For instance, if you are serving beef, then you will not want to use butter for your mashed potatoes. Therefore, you may want to find butter knives that either say “bride’s chair” or have something like that on them. You can also use salt and pepper shakers. Use them sparingly but keep them on display so that people can see exactly how much you use them.
How is the dining room decorating done if you are in a traditional setting? Keep it simple. You do not want to be overwhelmed because you cannot have traditional tableware or utensils any more. Make sure that when you cook meals for your family, you have a cutting board handy for cutting up the food. If you are at a restaurant for dinner, there may already be a cutting board on the table. If not, go find one and buy one as soon as possible.
You may also want to purchase some traditional dining room decorating items like spoons. These are usually used to mix the sauce at the table but you may use them for other dishes too like soup or salads. You may even decide to replace the traditional wooden spoons with plastic or metal spoons that you could put a nice centerpiece on.
